Default Forecast

Looking at the long term forecast, good looking cool weather should start cooling the water down. Won't be long before we start seeing some ice on the potholes if forecast holds true. Bring on the hard stuff. Just need to get hunting out of the way first.

Stake out your territory on Sylvan, they're getting their shacks ready for first ice.

Should organize the ice fishing shacks and make street and avenues. Then each shack has an address. Then at places like Sylvan or any lake with a town or services beside the lake a guy could order pizza delivery while fishing. Run a community power line out to the ice shack town grid for the shack's to power up for 3 months. Temporary power poles on the ice.

A while back I saw a show where there was a ice fishing shack town with really nice shacks set up in a grid of streets and avenues. During good ice the propane truck would deliver propane right to the ice fishing shacks. Some had 2 to 400 lb. propane bottles. Some folks stayed on the ice all winter. Like seniors... snow birds that forgot to fly south. Propane lights, heat and stove. All the comforts and a loose knit neighborhood. It was in eastern Canada somewhere. Maybe Quebec or on one of the great lakes.

They could have a Zip-in-Z Street.

Im hoping the snow holds off for a long time while the ice builds up.It would be nice for a change to be able to drive out to your spots without smashing drifts or deep snow.

IIRC, that pic is of the Marina Bay area. Lotta shacks out there. Only fished it once and didn't have a lot of success. Thankfully there's other, more productive, areas on Sylvan with a bit less traffic than that.

Now, having said all this, that picture of Sylvan is NOTHING compared to the east side of Lake Winnipeg in January. Thousands of tents and shacks on any given Saturday....

Lot of the lakes in Minnesota have mini towns set up with roads and they have delivery there.

Just google "Eelpout Festival" and you can see all the pics. thousands of people attend the festival. Lots of youtube videos from the festival too. https://youtu.be/oPFQGyUhVDA
