Yup 2 on hard water and only 1 in open water per licensed recreational fisherman.

Not sure exactly how close you have to be but I think within 50 ft? I remember the regs mentioned you must be attending the line at all times if you are fishing. Otherwise you should bring your line out of the water.

When we go out fishing and my gf goes back to the truck for a break I make sure her lines are out of the water. Don't want to get in to any trouble. Why risk it.

Maybe in your scenario those are native indians fishing?

30 metres max from each of your 2 lines and you have to be watching them. Can't go have a nap in the truck and leave them down.

One of the biggest poaching methods for years at Wabamun was to take pieces of cardboard...attach a line and wire worm and suspend off the bottom. Then cover with snow. Next day they would come back and take any whites caught. I just collected hooks.

If there is gear and no people...it would be interesting to see who comes running when you go to collect it. You could always say you thought it was abandoned due to the regulations clearly stating it is illegal to be fishing that way.

Maybe...a little confrontational...but...gezz...poachers sure are annoying.
