It's ALIVE!!! The dead thread from a deadbeat makes a comeback!
Just jokes, I had to get in one jeer tho
Cocktail shrimp work, but in my experience only for stocked rainbows. Don't tell anyone this well kept secret, but dew worms have produced some big rainbows for me. Try them below a Swedish Pimple, and try different depths if you are not getting bites. Also try leaving one end of the worm dangling and give it some serious short action. Hold on!! The big ones will slam that hook like Kimbo Slice.
Nice job looking through old threads for some valuable information; it's all in there, some just don't go looking for it. For a newbie to the board, it's a good way to get the respect of other board members, and a good way to sift the good information from the bad.
Good on ya, and best of luck this hardwater season!

Is this specific to rainbows? Cause it looks like it...because I wouldn't use any of these options fishing for brookies or lakers through the ice.

I bought the frozen shrimp or the shrimp ring due to the fact that they are more rubbery as the ones in the can. I have used them before too and had good success but maggots, worms, minnows, power bait for trout, velveta, work good i allways found it depends on the body of water...i have used colored marshmallows, cut an ear plug in half to make it like a marshmallow because you never lose it lol ,but the best is a friend of mine that is now fishing up above looking down on me made a mix of flour, sardines, smoked oysters, and crab meat, made balls with it and he did good everytime we went out,,,,,,,,used to make me laugh!!

Have a tip regarding shrimp rings. Was told to microwave them for 30 seconds or so which seems to make the chunks more rubbery and on the hook a little better.
Good luck
