Default Advice

Just spent my first day fly fishing on the brown creek and blackstone river. Had a blast. Can anyone tell me where else i should go off the forestry trunk road? Thanks for any advice

Most rivers along the trunk road hold fish

I guess fly fishers are more secretive than elk hunters....

You're best bet is to buy yourself a copy of Barry Mitchell's Book - Alberta's Trout Highway (Fishing the Forestry Trunk Road). It has lots of information on how and where to fish in Alberta including most rivers in the all drainage area.
Who said fly fisherman are secretive or not willing to share fishing information.

Yes we mostly are pretty secretive with our spots, but rightfully so. Alberta has tremendous fishing pressure and those few good spots are few and far between. If someone puts the work in to do the research and put the miles on than they deserve to have their own secret holes. In return, if you do the same thing and find somewhere special, that spot can remain special unless people find out and flock to it.

There is also an older book called Due North of Montana. (I think)...

It covers a lot of different places and is a decent read.

Shunda creek has tons of brookies and if you're stealthy, pretty big ones. Some Browns in there too.

I am sure you are a good guy but I don't want to tell you where I like to fish because you will tell an unlimited audience where you have been.
Learn to type French mans creek and lake X. I think its more important than casting.

You have unlimited resources out there....books, the internet, fishing clubs. It is a great feeling when you find a stream on your own and are successfull at it. Be self-reliant, you'll find it's a lot more satisfying.
