Default North Ram River

I've fished the main stem of the Ram before but never the North Ram. I'm gonna check it out mid-week. Only have a quick day and wondering if it is best to go upstream or downstream from the FTR? Any suggestions?

There's a lot more (easy) access downstream off of the N Fork road. Pretty easy to find a place to pull over and fish.

Let me know how it goes I'm thinking of heading down that direction on Friday. I went a month ago and we had some good luck there but it was busy on the river as it was a Saturday.

It's great fishing but very crowded. The last time I went there it was midweek and we left in search of space even though the fishing was on.

Also, downstream of the FTR has the bigger holes and more big fish

HHhhhmmmmmmm, I usually fish the Ram and walk all the way to Ranger Creek and then start fishing on the way back. Wonder if I should stick to that. Also, it's higher elevation and I wonder if the water will be a little lower. Just speculating.

As mentioned already, downstream has easier access. So if you don't mind walking, upstream has some nice spots, probably clearer, and no motor vehicles allowed past the outfitters camp. Enjoy.

Well, it was a beautiful day to walk the river. Water was still clear but high. We only caught a few 14 inches. However, there was a hog of a cutthroat in one hole that was about 5 pounds. We tried everything and though he was an active riser, not a nibble. He haunted and taunted us.....everytime he rolled he displayed the most beautiful colouring i've ever seen on a cuttie. I won't forget that fish.

Thanks Moe. Hoping to head out in that direction Mon-Wed. Might even try S Ram above the falls
