Sorry all no pictures. My wife, myself and our 5 year old daughter were out fishing in the yaha Tinda area this past week. The wife and I fly fish and the daughter had her frozen fishing rod. With the river being to fast the frozen rod was not retrieving the spinners to well and the little one was getting upset. So I asked her if she would like to try fly fishing. "Yes dad" with a big smile on her face. I got her hands in the right spots on the rod and helped her cast it out. I explained to watch the fly and how it should drift and when to recast when it got sucked under at the end of the drift. On the next cast she pulled it back and sent it out again. It hit the water drifted about 2 feet and a 17" bull trout came and grabbed her fly. Excitedly i said you got one reel it in. I held the slack line till she got it one the reel and I let her at it. After about 30 seconds of fighting she said "dad my arm hurts" and tried to hand the rod off to me. I told her she's got this and held the top of the rod to help her. She fought that fish like a pro and when it was at the waters edge I grabbed it for her. She was so excited to catch a bull trout and I was the proudest dad ever. Of course mom and I both forgot to bring cameras doh!! It was also the biggest fish all week. She was all smiles all the way back to camp and told everyone back there about her catch.
That must have been such a fantastic moment! I can't wait till my son is old enough to take him fishing, and hopefuly have such a perfect moment tge first time.
Nice one.
Sounds like a great family moment, thanks for sharing.
