Default World Record Walleye - Catch and Release Winter Division - Caught in Saskatchewan

Hi All,

As an ex-Saskatchewanian, I like to keep up on the goings ons in the province. My dad sent me this link. Not sure if the story made it on the forum yet, so apologies if it has...

Just an FYI for anyone interested.

Cheers,

5W

I just re-read the article - it kinda sounds like one big advertisement selling fishing products, but oh well, still interesting suppose.

I wonder what brand of boots, jacket, and underwear the guy was wearing...

I thought the same thing. He probably gets free products to use for fishing and gives them a good endorsement in return.

I'm not sure if it made it here yet, lots of talk on SK boards.

For the record, he received a heavty sum or money from PKlures apparently, so the stories go.

right on. Those guys obviously were targeting the live release record. bringing a cooler just to use for a livewell. Adam and i drill a live release hole right in the ice everytime we target records. Congrats to the guys. As for getting straight cash for that fish, i would bet he just got a fixed amount of tackle. There were lots of rumors on the 48lb trout we caught where we were paid $50,000 for the fish. instead i got a $1000 phone bill. lol. We did manage to get alot of tackle from rapala though. Now if that were a straigh WR walleye, that would be a different story.

Seems as though they were all set for the release, photos, measurements etc but I wonder why they did not weigh it, officially??? Or at least there is not mention of weight. I know it can be calculated based on girth and length but it seems strange to me.

According to the calculator at gowalleye.com, http://www.gowalleye.com/weight-calc.htm
that fish should have weighed:

15.8367919921875 lbs

He is the Canadian rep for PK Lures.
Hes based out of the Regina area.
His name is Tim Geni.
He held the walleye record for Tobin twice.
U have to make up ur own minds.

Tacklerrunner thats the way they do it in catch and release WR books Picture with tape measure .. if you do the girth and length you will be close /// now if you have a scale it would have to be Goverment certified to be a catch and keep WR/// you could get a Green score with your hand held// but a gov scale is what u need for C & K and a scale dosn't mean a thing in C & R // hope that helps .. AFGA has a C & R division each year

That makes perfect sense, thanks.
