Default Record Walleye

Anybody know if there's truth to a 15lb 15 oz walleye confirmed out of Gull?

Our safety officer is a chronic fisherman and tourney angler at work and he was told by his neighbour with RedDeer SRD that it had been verified. Just wondering what the heck is taking so long for the rumor to be confirmed!

I know what you mean. Pics result in excessive handling of fish.
I don't take pics and I catch a lot of large fish. I just let them
them go asap. No need to toot my horn.

I have no need to show pics , I know I can fish. Don't need to show others but...... a 15 lb walleye that's a different story !! I'd have bonked him , stuffed him and he'd be on my wall !!!! And yes there'd be a pic or 2

I didn't know that you could keep a walleye from Gull Lake.

How does a person go about verifying the weight of a fish if you are not allowed to keep it? I thought it had to be weighed on a certified scale.

good question

it depends who you are registering the fish with. Each association has their own rules and fine print.

In a 0 walleye retention fishery, any weight will come under heavy scrutiny due to the fact that the fish must be released immediately.

Don't see any tags for Gull walleye.

But hey, wadoiknow.

I'm just a retired pickerel fisherman.

Ohh, i'd love to see a pic of that fish!! I would have a hard time keeping it even if it was allowed though!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...............

Reminds me a time of when I was a kid and I made a rocket ship in the woods and flew to the moon.... I tried telling my mom that was the reason I was late coming home for supper.

I definitely think if you scaled up the walleye, took pictures from a few angles showing the scale and fish, then had the scale verified - you might have a strong case for a record. The SRD may not be as stringent as AFGA or IGFA.

If you were out hunting and saw a monster book mulie deer alive that you didn't have a tag for- decided to take a picture, released him running as he saw you. Doesn't mean that you get to put him in the records. If its catch and release you wait your turn until you get lucky and succeed with a draw. Same scenario in my books- put that picture in your album at home.

No need to get excited. I was just replying to what you wrote. The thread is about a possible record walleye out of Gull Lake. You wrote you would have bonked him and have the stuffed fish hanging on the wall. After having a thread like this show up, it is very possible that people who were going to fish elsewhere may have decided to go there instead.
Until my post, there was nothing mentioned about Gull having a zero limit for walleye. It is possible that some people may have been misled and kept walleye based on the info on your post. I'm sure that if I didn't point it out, somebody else would have.

Helpful tip for next time - when quoting someone, only delete the stuff you want to and leave the "QUOTE" that is surrounded by brackets at the end on. Everything that is between the 2 "QUOTE" words will show highlighted in your post.

Gentlemen, the difference between an "Angler" and a "Fisherman" is right here.

Sad to see.

If it was legal, a fifteen pound walleye is a wall hanger!

As for Graffy91, get over it.

I love how these cool stories and big fish photos turn into a pi ssing contest between a bunch of meat heads. Rather than congratulating somebody they complain about everything. Thanks for sucking the life out of me. Oh and congrats on the potential record walleye. Love to see the pics.

Lol. Kind of splitting hairs between synonyms... So by your logic, if I call my self a fisherman, I'm a terrible person?

Cause it doesn't exist or you would have posted ages ago.
If it does exist congrats but I highly doubt you not wanting to post immediately.
