Just wondering if there's any ice development in various areas around Alberta? Up here north of fort Mac the sloughs and streams have a thin layer ontop.
last tuesday little drainages and non standing canals had a good pre-layer happening and one that I thought the wind and sun would have melted by days end , didn't do nuthin. The nights are perfect,, but some good wind and a good temp dip without snow would be great. This was southern Alberta and it was warm out of the wind.
Was fishing the Highwood and Sheep rivers in southern AB today and both had ice build up along the banks. The ice on the Sheep river was thick enough to walk on...ice fishing season is just around the corner!

that's quick, saw it 3 days ago and it wasn't there or even close.
All the rivers and stream out west are now closed and they all have ice on them for example the blackstone river in some spots have 10-12 inches of ice and some of the rapids are even frozen, all ponds and smalls streams are frozen.
How about any reports in the Westlock, Slave, Athabasca area?
Was hoping to go up to Cross (Steele) Lake on Wednesday before the
weather gets too cold, for one last boat trip.

I'm hoping you mean 12 inches from shore because there certainly is not 12 inches of ice (thickness wise) on the Blackstone
