I'm pretty sure livestock has to come from licensed butcher trimmings not from farms and you can't cut it up yourself if I remember right

I called my local F&W and it’s for sure you can’t use pig even if slaughtered yourself. Would need to be inspected and done by licensed butcher. This is to prevent disease. Thanks guys!!

Time for some more Bear hunting pics. Here’s one from our first sit the other night girls had a blast had a couple bears come including a really nice Pine Martin.
The little bear decided he owned this bait site and decided he was going to sleep on the barrel for an hr.

Well the time has finally come, work is done, family time spent, now the hunt begins!! On the road now to pick up my hunting partner grab some Tim’s! Then like a couple little school boys filled with excitement we are off to the baits that are hearing up!!

Now seems we have a momma and 3? Cubs hitting the bait along with the original momma and cub, a big bore and other lone bear!

Going to move our second bait into this area to give the bore a safer place to eat haha these mommas seem to be pushing him off. Then we will stock up this bait. Then the sit begins and wait to see what happens! Stay tuned should be a good day!!

An April pic of tripps from a few years ago.
Cute little buggers, but a pain in the azz at the bait site.

Well it was an adventurous day to say the least! We got up to the bait it was completely dry! Not usually a good sign. (But there might be a silver lining this time.) Stocked it up and headed to our 2nd bait that had yet to be hit. Plan was to move it closer to the other bait to hopefully give the bore that cams in earlier and got run off by the Sow a place to eat.

Once we Got to the other bait site we got stuck haha! (Of course) after an hour of trying everything we Had to call the farmer to come pull us out. Thankfully we was around and helped us out. After that we grabbed the bait barrels and headed back near the first bait and made a new site! (Really like this new spot it has a lot of potential)

Once that was done we geared up for the hunt and went and sat in the tree stands! Sat from 4:30 till 7:30 and nothing come in yet. Which isn’t normal. The heats up until tonight have been dining in every night around 5:30-6. Pretty sure due to the dry bait the sow and cubs moved off which is a is the silver lining because now we should see some bore action. Well here’s praying any way haha.

Figuring nothing was coming in tonight we decided to cruise some lease roads for a spot and stalk opportunity but unfortunately no bear tonight!!

All in all still ton of fun and we will be back out early next week! Stay tuned!!

He may come back when more interested in breeding. Does have nice hair right now even on belly and armpits which are quit often sparse.
Good luck.

I haven’t baited bears for a number of years but when we would go sit we used to pack a slingshot with some ball bearings and shoot the bait barrels with the ball bearings when sow and cubs were in there eating out of them. The loud noise from them pinging off the barrels scares them off. The odd time that didn’t work shooting mama in the @ss got her running off in a hurry.
