Received My Lake Trout Mount
I awoke this morning to a phone call informing me my replica mount from Advanced Taxidermy had arrived. Upon opening the box the gf and I in unison said “that’s beautiful!” Advanced really excels at replica fish mounts. I could not be happier. Caught this one, my personal best to date in May 2005 a few days after ice out flatlining a chartreuse F11 floating rapala on a Shimano medium action graphite rod and Shimano Symetre reel loaded with 10lb Trilene XL. I was fishing alone and after about a 15-20 minute fight brought the fish to net, snapped a quick pic, took a length and girth measurement and set it free.

Another view...
The base is called a walnut pedestal with habitat. It added an additional $465 to the mount but I’m really glad I went that route over a wall mount. My cousin said “that’s an heirloom”. I guess I know who to leave it to in my will then, lol.

Amazing mount! How much would that mount run you? Let’s say I wanted to get one done....

The picture I have of it turned out horrible so they used a picture I had of another laker I caught in the same spot that was 2” shorter and caught through the ice as a colour reference. I can dig it out and take a pic of it with my phone.

Had I done it as a wall mount it would have been $715. However I wanted the pedestal/habitat so both sides of the fish need to be painted which added $250 to the fish and the pedestal was $465. Total was $1400 plus shipping.

I normally hate mounts however that is a work of art. More like a museum display. I would be pleased if it were mine. Nice fish.

Awesome mount!!! I'd like to one day get a few mounted as well.
How close does the mount match the fish in the picture you sent them? This is my only concern of replicas, is that they don't get the uniqueness of each fish just right.
Congrats again!

It’s a very good match. My picture of the fish did not turn out well but I have caught several others in the same spot over the years and the fish are the same basic colour so I gave them a pic of another about 2” shorter that had good detail in the pic and used it as the base to mimic. The paint on this is really something. Just like a real fish the colours change based on light and angle. It’s really something to watch it go from dark blue/grey to silver as the light in the house changes throughout the day. The people at Advanced are true artists.
This was evening as the sun was no longer coming in the living room windows and no lights on. Turned the flash off on the iPhone camera so as not to make the silver gleam.
