Motor Guide

Any one using the Motor Guide bow mount remote control?

Looking at putting a 45 lb on my 14ft aluminum. Any comments are helpful

I use a xi5 on my boat and it’s linked to my Lowrance. I had some troubles originally with the link system but working great now. The motor is very good And holds tight on spot lock. My son has a x5 on his bass boat. He loves it. Given where the industry is going however I don’t see much of a future for them given how all the fishfinder companies r producing their own to work with there units

I personally favor Minn Kota hand held remotes because there is a screen that tells you your prop speed, your SOG and any of the navigation features that are activated. My buddy has a Motor Guide and I hate his remote controller.

I have a Motorguide Xi5 the remote sucks compared to Minnkota Ipilot remote.

Yea I do wish the motorguide had a better remote I switched from minnkota so I can run it off my Lowrance. The functionality is what I was looking for. I can see myself switching to a Lowrance trolling motor 5 years down the road once the bugs r worked out. Lowrance is close to hitting the market with their motor

With both Lowrance and Garmin coming out with their own trolling motors this year at iCast I think Motorguide is either going to really step it up or they will fade away. Connectivity with Lowrance was the real driver for Motorguide to stick around.

I have always used MinnKota. Motorguides May be good motors, but I would be worried about the future of parts and support if you were to buy one now.

There are several good videos of the new ones mentioned from Icast last week. Just remember to get max usage of features you need to match the motor up with the appropriate finder or use separately and mix them up.
