I know quite a few people in Alberta and go up quite a bit....mostly for music related events, a little vacationing, etc. The Hunter Host program is nice, but it's not the same as a DIY hunt like you folks can do when you come down here. If you all draw a non-resident license, you can hunt anywhere in the state by yourselves, just like any resident or any other non-resident can. You can knock on doors and ask permission on private property, hunt all public lands, etc. In Alberta you have to be either with the host or on a stand where he picks you up and drops you off from what I understand. But you know, it's better than the other western provinces where an outfitter is required and their is no host program. Oh well.......whoever said life should be fair wasn't thinking about dealing with hunting and fishing regulations.
