Default Solo fishing/camping ideas

Looking to find myself in the woods and was wondering if anybody knew of some locations to park somewhere, and hike along a river with a tent somewhere secluded.

I was planning on only bringing some dried food and eating what I catch.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Best place to start would be the trunk road! Most of it is on crown land so can park and walk as much as you like. I have hiked into a couple of the rivers and spent the night, it is a very good time. As per eating fish, most of the trunk road is trout and some rivers are catch and release so check the regs as well.

This time of year, my go to spot for rivers are :
where the Berland goes into the Athabasca river. Good camping in the tree line. Mostly rockies and whites.
For Walleye ..where the Pempina goes into the Athabasca
I also would carry a riffle as you will come across bears .
Which part of the Province are you in.

Thanks for the replies gents. I'm in the red deer area, but unfortunately I won't have access to a rifle. Would bear spray suffice?

Bear spray works better then a rifle.

The Snakes Head natural area on the Red Deer river downstream of Sundre might be worth trying. I always caught brookies & browns there. I access the area from TWP rd 334 on the east side of the river. The river changed since the flood of 2005 so probably some newer channels and pools to explore.
