Disposing of animal waste/carcasses
Looking for information pertaining to disposal of carcasses in Lethbridge. It doesn't appear that the landfill will accept it and I am starting to think it's just too risky ditching it in the bush/random field.

If it isn't diseased and you can get it bagged they should take it at the dump. How big of an animal? Or is is a bunch of carcasses? Might look into burning them?
The Animal Health Act has info on it...

Alberta Processors if it's a large carcass. Expect a bill.

Mostly worried about spreading cwd. I can't burn it (even though that wouldn't get rid of any prions if they were present) and there doesn't seem to be anywhere that will accept it.
Just want to do my part in helping to slow the spread of cwd and other diseases and the best option I have is to debone in the field and bury. Looking for something easier.

It’s a good question, one I’ve pondered a bit too.

If you are near Calgary the landfill in the S.E. Accepts it.

Truthfully, until commercial processors are removed from the chain of contamination by the World Health Organization, I do not see any issues...

While the commercial processors play a large part in the spread of disease they are not the only contributing factor. We too must play our role.

If in fact the commercial facilities do play any part in the spread of this prion, they would be instructed to NOT accept any wild game. Simple really, the cross contamination would be unacceptable as per the information available.

I don't see it on the banned list either. Have you called and asked the landfill? This old AO thread has more ideas. http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=198895

If they aren't too big too rotten or too many aren't you allowed by law to leave the non edible stuff where you dressed the animal? Or where you shot it?
