Default 22 Cal Bird shot?

Found a box of this stuff.
What would it be used for, mice at close range?
And what size shot would it have, dust?

Pete

Default birdshot

I used to use those to clean pigeons out of the barns. Basically a rock-salt load that wont damage the buildings when shooting from the inside-out. You do have to be within around twenty feet of your target to make it work though.

Dad used to have a Winchester pump that was smooth bored for the 22 Whiz-band ammo that C.I.L. sold.

I can remember my older brother selling 3 shots for 25 cents at the gun club picnics and open houses . he used mosquito clays and a SUPER SMALL trap mounted on a work bench!!
Never seen another trap like that after.....

I have an uncle who lives in Panama, he uses it to chase off cats. I've heard people say it can mess up the rifling but I'm not too sure if theres any truth to that.
