Default Roof top storage bag

Hi,
I am currently planning my November hunting trip, there will be 3 of us and we will all be in my pickup. I have a Tundra double cab and frankly am running out of space. I need to pack enough for a 3-5 day camp out trip, and I am thinking of trying one of those waterproof roof bags. In the roof bag will go the tent (10x10 Alaknak), chairs, sleeping bags etc. Anyone has any experience with those bags? I started looking into those Prinsu type roof racks but I dont want to drill into my roof, so the cheapest options was one of those bags, my main concern is the weight that the roof can support.

TIA!

Where are you going to put the game you harvest if you're already full?

"I am running out of space" meant I am leaving room for the game harvested of course!

One option to consider is a bed rack too - the sweet thing about those is that there are many modular goodies that you can attach to them (recovery boards, and, of course, with a Tundra, you pretty much NEED the spare RotoPax fuel tanks! )

May not work if you have a folding tonneau cover, though.

I have a toolbox which i find quite handy, plus I am looking for a fairly cheap option and I drive my snowdog in there so it will kind of be in the way....

I don't like the idea of a bag strapped to the roof. Lots of potential for damage to the roof. Also I'd rather use a Thule (or whatever brand) cargo box, that way it's locked and dry, but you'd have to buy a roof rack.

3 guys and all your stuff in one truck? Get a utility trailer or another truck.

Who hunts and doesn't have a truck anyway?

My 71 year old father and my brother are flying up from NB.
Let me re-phrase the question: has anyone used a rooftop bag on a pickup truck before, if yes any issues with weight capacity. Thank you for your feedback.

I wouldn't trust a rooftop bag to keep the sleet and snow from soaking my sleeping bags and would find somewhere else to store those.

They can also be noisy flapping in the wind, on smaller SUV’s.
Even if you do your best at positioning cargo in tightly.

I used a Thule soft bag for years and loved it. Could really stuff it. Easy on and off, full access with all around zip. Was really nice to have gear and room.

I do have another option, we have a large Yakima Skybox on our minivan. I could buy some cross bars and install that on the roof. Its a pretty long storage box so I am not sure it will fit, anyone tried it before?

I am renting a uhaul 5’x8’ enclosed cargo trailer for our hunt this year. $220 for 11 days. As someone mentioned, an extra 1000 lbs of capacity. For the price, it’s a no brainer. I wouldn’t waste my money on those rooftop bags, for all the reasons everyone else mentioned.

My opinion only.

No question.. this is your answer... Much better solution since you already have the box. Go talk to a rack store, they'll let u know if it'll work.
