Default New Cabinet in Alberta

OMG, only 5 women (including Smith) and a lack of diversity (according to CBC news). Is this the death of WOKE in Alberta?...

It's about time cabinet positions were assigned based on ability/qualifications, rather than on diversity. As for the sewer rat, she can shut her trap, her party wasn't elected.

Default Get a good grip on what ever you are sitting on...

If history is anything to go by, the UCP will have more trouble with their own members than with the NDP. They have a slim majority so any revolt/floor crossing, like they have done in the past will result in a vote of no confidence and a new election.

Lets hope not a few years of peace and good government is what we all can use.

Were you hoping for an NDP victory?

Funny, that sack of hammers isn't screaming anymore for a Somali curriculum after one of her beloved "inclusive" teachers told that muslim boy that if he didn't support 'pride' he wasn't Canadian, and should go home.

If the dippers won she would have likely been education minister. Would have made for quite an entertaining month .

Wasn't the dipper cabinet mostly women?
Where were the cries for diversity then?

This small majority is actually a good thing for rural conservatives now the rural MLAs have a lot more power and say to push social conservative policy. Smith can’t afford to lose any rural MLA votes so she has to take a hard right turn in policy.

Rural voters hold the power to pressure their elected MLA to just tell Smith hard right policy or lose confidence vote and another election. Already organizing to pressure MLA to start limiting trans policies in schools. Rural communities were basically ignored during covid and policy was set to appease city people now rural communities get to set policy.

Actually, if you look at the new Minister and Ministry profiles, you’ll see that Fish and Wildlife is not in Forestry, which to me indicates that Smith finally, but correctly, recognized the inherent conflict of interest in Loewen, as an outfitter and trapper, having any legislative responsibility for the Wildlife Act. Good decision. He can still have input as a Cabinet member, but the integrity of government is protected. She’s regained my trust again on this aspect.

Does anyone know anything about the new Ag Minister? Funny she would pass by Horner and Dressen , to appoint someone less qualified?

Nothing wrong with diversity ...... as long as the candidates are equally qualified.

To put anyone into any position who is less qualified because they meet some diversity check box is absolutely negligent to the tax payers and voters of this province who expect to elect and have the most qualified people in the positions they occupy to drive the best results in legislation.

The whole conversation (accusation) by CBC clearly demonstrates the willful intent to be ignorant to basic common sense so they can virtue signal like our pandering PM.
