The RCMP has no jurisdiction in another country. Other than taking your report, they can do very little if the other country refuses to work with them.
The problem is some of these foreign countries refuse to self govern criminals in their own country and basically leave them alone as long as they are not scamming people there in their own country.
India is probably the worst offender of this and there are virtually full buildings of cubicals on all the floors full of scammers working the phones right under the authorities noses.
Pretty sad. Disgusting.
Canada should have sanctions against countries that refuse to cooperate with jailing these scammers.
I always get a kick out of someone calling me with the thickest accent claiming his name is "Bobby Smith" .......... uh ...... yeah ....... so I say .... "Hi Bobby Smith my name is Paphindeer Sighn" and they usually hang up.
Unfortunately many older people (or other vulnerable people) fall to these scams and loose tons of money to these criminals. It's seriously sickening to think about.
