Default Euro elk mount

Has anybody used the skull hooker on a elk or moose? Curious as to how much weight capacity they can hold. Also looking for some Ideas on other alternatives to putting the euro on the wall. Thanks

Had a skull hooker for an elk. Broke first day. The meager welds let go

Use use peroxide not bleach!! Bleach will eat away at the bone and make it brittle!

Thanks. I used a screw through the base of the skull and through the mounting block the skull is on.

Yes to peroxide but not the drugstore stuff, too weak. Use taxidermy quality or hair dresser peroxide.

And erode the bone. No to bleach!!

I’m in the process as we speak.
Went into the beauty shop, actually felt like a goof going in asking for peroxide lady said no problem guys come in often looking to whiten skulls. So she knew exactly what I needed. 40 peroxide cream and whitening powder. Mix it to a paste similar to mayonnaise. Spread with a brush all over cover it in a plastic garbage bag for a day, rinse well maybe finish with mop and glow or a satin clear and should be good.

Top Rack makes one that lets the skull sit closer to the wall. I wasn't a fan of how far out the skull hooker sits.

Yup. exactly what I did. works great. i didnt boil my skull soon enough so its not perfect but it goes with the rustic look. 24 hours is hard to wait to see the product though haha.

I have seen a euro bull moose skull suspended from the ceiling by a 1/16th inch cable. I believe the cable was anchored/screwed in to a ceiling joist. The cable also had an inline swivel. The skull was suspended in the corner of the room and when the owner put on a fan in the room the skull would freely rotate very slowly. Not sure how he attached the cable to the skull but it was perfectly balanced. Looked really nice and showed off the skull really nice as it turned.

A person shouldn't boil a skull. It weakens the bone too. Use really hot water for cleaning but not boiling.
