I see it now...that thing would blow away on a windy day. Had one similar at first from walmart, it was garbage. In AB, you need something a little more heavy duty and definitely needs to be ancored on a lot of windy days out there.

I agree with Mustang. Even IceCubes can be blown in on a windy day in Southern Alberta. Anchors are essential, if nothing less - to protect your investment.

If I were to buy a shack from a store (I made mine), I would probably go with the Clam, 2 seater. Ample room for two people, swivel seats, sled, and easy to set up. A little more ridgid than a Ice Cube as well. Pretty pricey, 399.99 at BPS.

I had a Hillary screenhouse, looked really nice, but one day the wind blew it flat, broke some of the fibreglass poles. only place to get replacements is in the States. Price looks good on that ice hut, but I dont think it would last in the wind.
Dont think those dudes in the ad are going to catch much, looks like they set it up on top of a hill LOL

Fibreglass poles are not good. They splinter when they get cold; and when you're icefishing, they get cold.

now that Ive looked at that sears one a little more, Im thinking for that price I could put together an internal frame of 2x2s or even 2x4s and beef it up considerably. I dont have to drive any distance to get to the lakes so I dont need to sleep in it.If I put ice anchors on the corners it might be ok. Its cheap enough if it doesnt work its not a huge loss. And if it works the difference will cover my gas for most if not all of the ice fishing season.
