Default Crayfish in brooks? Best place to take kids?

So last year i took the neices to lake newell and we caught some crayfish....but its kinda far.....so im thinking that lake in brooks might work???? Anyone see them there?
Any better ideas? Kids wanna eat them....so nose creek is gross......
I think the lake is called stafford lake in brooks?

Any updates or ideas would be helpful....i read the other links from this site.....but im still not sure.....

Was gunna head out and hunt for them during the day...when we went to newell we just lifted up rocks and caught them....lol....

its loaded with them, dunno if I would eat them out of there though. Just get in a bit of water where the rocks are and start flipping them.

Ewwwww really? Not eat them? Is there a reason? I thought the water was safe there....any better ideas?

You should see the water they come out of down in the bayou's and swamps in the southern US. Make nose creek look like a high mountain stream.

Prepare them right and dig in! Nothing better than a few pounds of spicy boiled crawfish and a few beers.

Tons of them at the channel that joins rolling hills and newell. Always stealing my bait. Not sure how to catch them though.

The kids here love to catch them this way: They just use some string tied to a stick, with a piece of sausage tied to the end as bait. The crayfish clamp on to the sausage and don't let go, even when you lift them out of the water. Lots of fun.

I have used a basic minnow trap with bread...it's amazing how many you can catch in a short period of time. Assuming this is legal in your area.

Well......now i dont know.......i guess newell is the best place?

Its kinda far....from calgary......is there any place closer? Thats safe for kids?
