Default anyone heard that ???

Went home last night , my girlfriend told me that she heard on the news that a vehicle went through the ice somewheres and claimed a life, aparently a woman ended up being trapped inside a truck and the truck went under,
wondering if that's in Alberta ???, my Gf could not recall the location.

kind of feeling worried a bit with the warm weather...,
can the ice be rotting already or is it safe to drive ??

When driving on ice, carry a hammer next to you. Great advice, I think I read it on this forum.
