yah i was hunting by Longview and same result. No buglin had a few cows slightly interested in the calls but not enough to get close, but it was pretty chilly and frosty this mornin so im thinkin any time those bulls are gunna start gettin really frisky.

yeah it was frosty this morning and i thought forsurely the rut would be kicking in, but i guess not. Should be starting this week.

Did see some heavy rubs though, like im talking heavy.

I get confused because i dont know if thats from elk or from deer rubbing off the velvet.

Can wait to hear a bugle

Default bugling has started

Up near Hinton we heard bugles from several different bulls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. One bull even bugled around 11 am. Most bugling was done before 7am (daylight). Got to within 53 yard of one 5x5 and 55 yards of another shooter but no luck past that.

Tried cow calling but nothing ever came in.

Default elk

100 yards... you are smack dab in the middle of some of the best elk country around...not to mention the whitetail. Time to join one of the local clubs and get to know the country, you've been there long enough now. Next stop for you could be a lot different. Maybe I should drag wallhanger off the farm and come up for a visit....

I'm heading up to GP on the weekend for 'em! Are they yaking up there yet? It'll be my first elk hunt ever and I'm pretty excited! Any reports would be awesome and appreciated!

Yeah, I was surprised as well. I've visiting that area most of my life (our church has a retreat centre there) and never knew... Unti last year, I was heading south of Entwistle and saw a herd of elk. Pleasant surprise, for sure!

Has anyone been out scouting? I'm from Fort Mac and can't get out to scout the rut, there seems to be no elk here. So anyways going hunting tomorrow in WMU 360 and would like to know how the rut is going. Thanks
