I would sure be in for a get together on the Northern side, and might be able to make a Southern one. I too would be willing to buy hats or toques, and the flag idea sounds good too. Ice fishing peeps always make great friends.

As for the southern gathering, I am as well in for Crawling Valley. The wind can be tough, but maybe WalleyeDietz can bring his wall tent again and we can have a big burbot fry!!!! mmmmm fresh fried Lota Lota!

I would think that a good trout pond or lake somewhere close to Red Deer would centralize the event so we meet a broader cross section of the membership. With everyone having to put out a little to attend, no one will feel uninvited. I favour a trout fry only because this event should not nesessarily have to be a trophy hunt, particularly since some new fishers have expressed an interest in coming out and learning the tecnniques. I'd like to show up myself, say Phylis or Strubel? Dave

for me in the winter 4 or 5 hours one way is much too far, thats why we need more than one location. if some can make more than one thats great, but dont forget what sort of weather we get in the winter. plus after fishing til way late for burbs who wants to drive another 4 or 5 hours to get home?

Default lets do this

Hi Drano, I ran into your son last nite at his work and we talked about getting together for some fishing so count me and my son Tank in for the get together. I used to put on a tournament with the folks at the fishnalberta website but that website seems to have died off. We used to go to RR23 West of the town of Sylvan Lake as TJG stated in an earlier post in which we called the tourney the FROSTY. I have really met some great folks attending these fishing hardwater get togethers. There are a number of species to target there and the access is really great onto the lake. How do I contact you to help set this up?

Ken Campbell aka: Goose

i agree, i would like to attend one of these events. i think a central location would help to get more northren members to attend.

I don't post often, but read the forum every day. I met some of you at Wabamun, at the Make A Wish Derby last February, but only by chance. I'd have liked some way to recognize folks and get to know some of you.

I like the flag idea, will put the orange blaze on the tent this winter. Mostly at Pine Lake, and would be happy to meet and greet on the ice.

We've been gathering up our gear for some ice fishing, so would love to be able to come along on a trip. We're out of Calgary, so don't want to drive 4 hours type thing.

Thanks for all the responses.

I will be looking for some members on the ice this year for sure.

Be safe out there.

I would love to attend an icefishing get together. I am way south, so I don't think I would drive more north than calgary. I also LOVE the pink toque idea, cuz its pink. But the sign on the tent would work too. Watching for details. And waiting very patently for ice!

We are south too, definitely will have an ice gathering or two in the area this winter. Lots of us southerners (without the accents) on the board.
