Default Thin Ice

Be careful on the ice guys, today at the Strathmore pond, one of the graders belonging to a local company was clearing a skating rink and track, when it broke through the ice. From the road it looked as though the ice was only a few inches think where he went through. The snow is acting as an insulator slowing down the freezing would be my guess. Expensive lesson for a company donating their time and equipment.

Only went into about three ft deep, but I imagine they had a heck of a time getting it out, I could not stick around to see how they removed it as I was at work. But they have lots of track hoes, cats and graders etc. so I don't imagine it took them to long. I would sure hate to see someone go through the ice while they were trying to enjoy a day fishing, playing hockey or skating.I was shocked to see it given all this extreme cold weather. But the cold weather and the snow arrived at the same time so I think I'll give Ice fishing a couple more weeks to thicken a little more.
