Default WMU 51, 52 Elk

Anyone have experience hunting Elk in 51. Nice Area? Landowners hunter friendly? Will be spending some time down there this summer and maybe pull a draw there next year.

Honest question. Let’s say I hunted in that zone. If that were true, why would I or anyone else tell you that the elk hunting is good, and the landowners are friendly and easy to get permission from? So you could potentially be there competing for the same spots as meo opening day? I wish you the best in finding a good area, but man all you guys asking for hunting spots gotta realize what you are asking. It takes literally years to scout an area, get permission, and cultivate relationships with landowners.

I don’t know you, so obviously I have no malice, but I hope no one gives out this kind of information. Even if you don’t think it’s a big deal, there are lots of other people who likely do.

Alas, you haven’t even taken the time to type the correct WMUs, so there likely isn’t much danger in getting the response you were hoping for.

The elk hunting is as good in wmu 51 as it is in wmu 999.

When I find out what zones he/she’s looking for and if I can help I will. If you don’t like peoples questions don’t reply. Threads getting closed just because some high mileage posters didn’t like the question even if they didn’t break any rules is getting old, help out or move on. Believe me I have complained!
I have helped out many guys on this forum and I enjoy doing it… especially when it turns out to be a new or a youth hunter.
Instead of the mods closing threads of good people they need to get rid of the real problem.
I’m sure A mod will be by shortly to close this thread….

How do you know they are good people?
Youve never met them
The problem with sharing info blindly on here is that there will 100% be an increase in traffic to that area
If they havent taken the effort to do their own leg work, do you think they are going to put in the effort to ask for permission?
If they are youth hunts, i understand, but they are typically going to be hunting with someone they know. And if your over 16 years old, you can knock on doors yourself. It builds character. This guy has been on here since 2007. So hes not a youth and hes not new either

I've had great success in 51 and 52. Its almost unfair. Landowners are the best. They usually drive you out to the pea and alfalfa fields they plant for outsiders to hunt over then invite you back to the house for a hot lunch.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. The last one before the one today was over a year ago so we may be waiting a while for clarification on which WMU’s he’s looking for info on…

But, 2020 was a big year for him with 4 posts in total so you never know…

How do you really feel?

I’d be interested to hear you respond to what I wrote, rather than righteous indignation. Please tell me what I said that was either rude or wrong.

Wow! I am better than this but I just gotta say Elkhunter11, maybe you should change your username to something that matches your personality better. Excuse me for leaving out a digit. At 67 years old this **** happens. YES it should have been 151 and 152. Have you never made a mistake. And what a crock that I might be interfering in other people's Elk hunt. If I am lucky I might be drawn 1 more time in my lifetime and I am looking for a good place to enjoy it. This forum should be for friendly conversation and not the crap you are posting.

I am not sure how to give you a compliment. Without getting in trouble again.
But from my sincere soul. You are bang on.
I love helping people hunt too.

151 and 152 have good elk. Grab a spotter and get looking.

Don't take it too personally.

Every year when draws come out there is a rash of these types of threads for a few weeks, usually started by first-time posters or members who only post a few times a year. They usually get a different response than the same ones posted by members who contribute to the forum regularly.

I look at it this way, if I asked a fellow Elk hunter and buddy who I had spent some time forming a relationship with where I could go to have a half-decent Elk hunt I'd expect to get a different response than if I walked up to a complete stranger at a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation function and asked the same question.

So, a guy can get offended by the responses, pack up his toys and say screw those a-holes on AO and leave, or, start contributing to the forum, build some relationships, post up some stories with pictures and be an active part of the community. I chose the latter 9 years ago and I can't say I've never regretted it. I've also started similar threads and had mostly positive responses.

Its like anything; you only get out what you are willing to put in.

Good luck on your Elk hunt. I hope you have a good one and connect with brute. Cheers.

Exactly! Over the years I have met several AO members, some who I helped with reloading and firearms, some who I have invited out hunting waterfowl, upland birds and big game, and some have invited me out hunting, and offered me access to their land to hunt. If you comtribute to the forum , and help other AO members out, you usually find that AO members are willing to help you out, but if you only post when you are looking for help, you won't find other members as anxious to help you out.
