Default New Puppy Name

My wife and I are super excited to be getting a German Wirehaired Pointer puppy in just under a month. Sadly I don't have any pictures to share yet, but I will post some once I can get some!
The struggle that we seem to be having is picking a proper name for the new female family member. I was wondering if you friends had any suggestions for a female GWP. Some of the name suggestions have been not something I would willingly call out while she's on point or retrieve!

I have always let a name find my dogs through a personality trait, action or deed/etc.

Heidi is a Gemanic sounding name my parents used for their Doberman. I've always picked a name for the behaviours I'd like or just cool sounding.

I agree. I find a name always comes out after a few days and character is revealed.

Naming a pet is a big job and requires a significant amount of time to come up with a good name. A lot of thought should be put into it as you will be spending time with the pet for many years.

When we got our cat 12 years ago he was only 5 weeks old. We thought long and hard for days to come up with a suitable name. We finally decided to call him “Kitty”.

Good name for a dog. Especially if it turns out to be stupid and licks it’s azz.

Every animal I've owned in my life was named Steve. Hamster. Cat. Dogs. Crow.

I need a pet Martin I guess

Excellent choice on the breed. I’ve spent a lot of time hunting behind a few of those dogs and love them almost as much as a springer. A good family friend breeds them in Wisconsin and has been coming up here hunting birds with them since the 60’s. His favourite bi.ch was named Berta after this province. I remember one time we pulled over to let the dogs pee. She came out of the back of the truck, her head went up and she took off upwind at full speed. Silver told me to get my shotgun and follow her. 200 yards away she went on point with a rooster under her nose. She was a pheasant hunting machine but they did equally well on all upland and waterfowl.

Without getting into the wrong headedness of not buying a Labrador...
Maybe more important to pick a name that doesn't sound like something else.
Lots of options out there but not ones that sound the same as: No, Whoa, Sit, Here, Heel, Fetch etc.
Single syllable is good but two is fine too, three is probably too much (and will inevitably get shortened to one)
As someone above noted, mine have all responded to "whaddya doin you f'n dummy" (mostly when walking away from the line at a field trial)

After having our puppy for a few months I had a bunch of names thought up that we should have used. Knucklehead, Marblehead, Hey, Bozo, 2x4 (favorite chew toy), and a bunch more that wouldn't make sense with the swear filter.

We named our boy Ben. Wife calls his Benjamin. Neighbours call him Benji. Our daughter came up with a bunch of nicknames for him during his growing up time. It started with Sh&thead, then Bartok( an eval dog of Rasputin from the cartoon), then Phsycopuppy… Now he is Goog because he makes this weird noises when he is begging for a treat, sounds like he is gargling something or gur gur noises…. So Goog is how we call him now most of the time, lol!

I’m partial to my hunting buddy’s wife name. That way when she runs wild on a hunt both of you can yell at her. It’s therapeutic
