There is a midway set up with rides but I think that is about all it is. A way to milk some money. Sure hope no one drives in to waste their time and money. Sad that K days was dismantled a few years ago.

K days, like WEM are just a waste of time and money and designed for tourists. I stay away from both like they were a plague. But to each, his own.

When we lost the 'Klondike" theme a few years back K days went down hill. Just midway set up by same company that does Calgary Stampede. Always covered both cities in July.

Really wish I could have made it just once to see the Klondike dancing girls... But alas I guess it was not meant to be.

I loved it when we had the real Klondike days. It was fun to see everyone dressed up in their Klondike finery. The events all over town, breakfasts, bars ,dance halls, were a hoot to tour. Now is is no event at all. It was at one time almost as big as the Calgary Stampede, and far more popular with locals. Calgary attracts lots of tourists but many locals leave town during Stampede. Edmonton lost a lot when it gave that up.

The people responsible for dropping "Klondike" are unredeemable boneheads.
The argument was that no one associated Edmonton with the Klondike, so they could get more tourists with a different theme.
And I think even though people generally didn't like that idea, they could look at that argument and understand it.
But, then they made the new theme "Absolutely Nothing" and completely murdered it.
For no reason at all.

Of course not. They're too "woke" to do actual historical research because they're so 'progressive' and 'superior to' previous generations, like any other intellectualoids.
Edmonton was one "marshalling point" for people heading to the Klondike.

I'm always amazed at all the things the perpetually offended (one of the privileged classes) find to snivel about!
Unfortunately far too many people actually pay attention to them, instead of laughing at them and telling them to "Get a life".
Like someone here always says, "Enjoy the decline".

And of course the name change over the years. Calling it K-Days for short is fine. But the K stood for something, as mentioned. Then to Capital-X, then officially to K-days. We are losing our identity. The very reason that nobody could relate to Klondike anymore is the best reason to keep the name Klondike Days. People getting dressed up, panning for gold. You understood something.

As a kid we loved Klondike days. Klondike Mike lived in our hood and we got to pet his donkey from time to time when he would have it in his yard prior to a show.
As a parent, even though it was costly, we took our kids to it and they enjoyed the fun.
Klondike days, the raft races and parade were Edmonton's thing, just like the Stampede is to Calgary. Then the idiot mayor, city councilors & Northlands got in the way and it has never had the same feel since. Lost that identity.

You clearly never experienced the real Klondike days. This is NOT about finding stuff to bitch about, it really is about pushing back on stupid. If Edmonton reinstituted the original Klondike days u would see a massive uptick in the popularity of that couple of weeks of celebration.
