Default First pike I have seen in this color...

These pics do not do this pike justice. I have never seen a pike this color of yellow before. This was at Clear Lake the other day....took some buddies from work out for the day. They had a great time and all the other pike were normal color, but this guy just looked wrong.

Imagine the color of a manila mailing envelope.

Colour comes from a diet of the small White Faced Chub.

Have seen them on my camera a few times now. They also are in Eagle Lake by Strathmore.

Small bait fish about 2-3 inches long and can cause a lighter colour in the pike so I was told by a fish bio. a few years back.

I caught a few of them last week also at a Clear.

cool. ive seen several color variations over the years: yellow, silver with almost no spots (no, not a muskie), black, red. figured it was either water or food source. nice pics.

Default Pike color

Used to see this quite often fishing in NW Ont, comes from the color of the water that they are hanging out in. Stained water from some of the smaller shallow lakes they had an orange color to them, same as the walleye pretty cool to see.

There is also a genetic strain called a golden pike that is quite rare. There used to be one in the F&W office off 149st for display beside the more common color configuration

Nice pics, thanks for sharing!
I've caught 2-3 similar looking pikes at Clear lake in the last couple of years too...

Cool!

And that is what I am going to tell everyone....I caught the Golden Pike!!!

Way cooler than yelling, "I caught a pike with liver disease!!!!"
