Managed to find some birds in a silage field. Ended up being more ducks than I had seen the night before, and the geese seemed pretty educated considering it was opening day. But we still did good, there was 5 of us, ended up with 73 birds. 7 honkers short of duck/goose limits per man. Windy and raining again outside now, 6am, can't see anymore fields getting cut around here for a few more days. How did everyone else that managed to get out make out?
I was eyeballs deep in work, haven't even bought my liscenec yet, and there is not to many honkers around here yet. On the plus side some guys are combining peas, and some malt barley won't be long.
Went out scouting last night. Season her opens next week.
Not much being cut except a bit of canola has been swathed.
Lots of water around with a few on each pond. Wet weather is good for nesting but bad for hunting as they are all spread out rather than bunched up on a few ponds.
How is Diesel feeling today? His turbo is broken im guessing?
He's doing better than I thought he would after the busy day he had. Lot of sleep and recovery supplements and an anti-inflamatory. Looks tired but doesn't seem too stiff at least. Heading out around 4-5 I think to spot for morning, call you later.
