Default Can Cooker

Had a buddy make us dinner with the Can Cooker....basically all it is is a pressure cooker/steamer...he put Mountain Dew in it which was recommended....we all agreed it was the most disgusting camp meal we've ever had....not so much that it was flavoured poorly, just like we were eating boiled everything.....I know when guys get hungry, especially after slogging all day we'll eat just about anything, but I'll stick with the BBQ thank you. Just a camp cook review and all IMHO

Just curious but what did was prepared in it. I’ve had quite a few meals made in them and can’t say I’ve ever had any major complaints. Never heard of using Mountain Dew. Always dumped in a beer. Done lots of sausage, potatoes, chicken and much more.

Yeah, cooking with Mountain Dew does not sound appetizing at all...

Elk cubes (what a waste), potatoes, carrots, garlic (I think)...pretty basic. Everything was super tender (of course), just very very bland/icky...for the time it took we could have BBQ'd and really enjoyed it...again, this may be OK for some people.

I would agree that the bbq probably would have being a much better choice for that meal. Have found that some added seasoning is required for potatoes and carrots after they are cooked in there. We have done ribs and finished on the bbq with sauce. Those were quite good. It does make it convenient for cooking all your items in one device but I will agree that extra seasoning is required.

We had the new guy in our moose camp cook a supper one evening at camp with the Can Cooker. Prawns, spicy sausage, corn on the cob pieces, potatoes, onions, escargot, spices and other ingredients I do not know....it was AMAZING. It was the second time he ever cooked with it.

His meal is a definite supper meal at moose camp from now on !!

Hearing this, I'm thinking it is more my buddy's cooking rather than the can Cooker.

Not sure if putting an acid (mountain dew ... ) in an aluminum pot and heating it is gonna be good for you either.
