Default E6X Drop shot rod?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the E6X drop shot rod, as i have an opportunity to buy a new one for over 50% off. I don't do much drop shotting, but was wondering about it's application as a walleye jigging rod.

The action is listed as MAG medium, and I am not quite sure what that means other than the blank tapers. However, i'm unsure of the practicality, as all rods taper. I've also been told it's closer to a med light, but am not sure why the rod is not just called med light.

What do people typically use for jigging specific rods? From my experience, an extra fast, med light, rod, about 6" long is prefered, the only difference with this one is it's 6"10. I'm not sure what difference that makes for me, as the rod is a really good deal.

If anyone knows anything at all about the E6X drop shot edition, I would appreciate the help.

Thanks very much every one!

I'm not sure about the "drop shot" designation, but mag medium indicates that it's slightly stiffer than medium action. It's not a full MH, but it'll be stiffer than an M, in theory, it's somewhere in the middle. Make sense?

The same is true of the Mag Light, in the Loomis Walleye series, Mag Light is essentially a ML.

That 6'10" E6X would be a great rod for larger jigs or for casting/ripping heavier minnow baits like the Shiver Minnow or Jigging Rap. Even better at 50% off!

I'm not planning on buying more than one rod however. This will be my only rod for walleye, and being that it is not the right power, I'm not sure it's a good choice anymore. I think a medium is even a little on the heavy side for what I want.

My understanding of a mag action is that it is stiffer in the butt than a normal action. Thus a mag light Would be a light action rod but with a heavier butt section to handle bigger fish. The reason for this is that you might want a soft tip to protect soft bait or to keep drop shot from sliding down the line, but you expect to catch bigger fish thus needing the more powerful butt. This is my understanding of the term.

Does that mean the rod is a medium with a softer tip then normal? Or a medium heavy with a softer tip than normal?

G Loomis website explains it pretty well. Soft tip so fish don't feel resistance when you lift the bait. Lots of backbone in the blank for hook sets.

Right, I read that and how the blank tapers, however how does the mag medium relate to a regular medium in terms of power. Is it softer? Or is it a medium tip with a heavier backbone?

I would guess a mag med is a med tip with a heavier butt.
