Default Mountain Lion Thread 2012-2013

Now that cat hunting season has kicked off I thought I would start a thread. It would be great if houndsmen and or their hunters would post pics for this years season.

We are headed out in a few minutes to look for tracks.

Good luck for everyone out and about this season!

With the low quotas for this area it will probably be all over by Monday or Tuesday.

I saw some scat yesterday up by Rocky Mountain House.... the scat was bigger than a large dog, black, with lots of hair in it and round paw prints were nearly the size of the palm of my hand with claw prints at the tip of the pads. The paw prints were nearly perfectly round with fairly large round pads, nearly the size of my thumb. I took a couple of pics on my iphone. I've seen wolf tracks before which are very similar to coyote and dog tracks, these were rounder and the pads were pronounced.

I didn't mark the exact coordinates on my gps but if you pm me I'll tell you the general area where I saw them. The tracks were fresh because we had a skiff of snow and they were made within a couple of hours. Once I download the pics I'll try to post them on here, you can let me know if they're cat or not.

Default Lots down here

Saw the one in Hillcrest that's been eating all the town cats lately.
Crossed the road by Hudas.

He's just a little guy

First day out lots of tracks but mostly females and kittens. One Tom track that was pretty fresh we walked the dogs on but ran out of daylight. Going to try to block him in today.
