I'm gonna, just need to prepair for conditions. Maybe head to another lake close to there, instead.

Remind me to not help you in any way possible in the future. Try leaving the sarcasim at home.

I agree with you. I cant stand people like that. Obviously not a fisherman. Kim I might go there next week and will let you know. Go there often and it sure would be nice if those bigger perch came around.

Default Long lake by Boyle, ice report anyone?

The fishin hole told me 7" and 4" of slushy/crust with a lot of snow on top of that.
I was told that yesterday.

There is between 6"-8" but with all the snow, there will be water on the ice. You would be good to go with a quad, but watch for the slush.

Thanks for the info people. Water on top of ice, I don't like. May go there or someplace else. I know long gets a lot of flood water early in the year and thats the info I was looking for. I want some nice perch for supper tho, Class A tags to fill also. Gonna be a hard one to decide. Perch or Trout
Where ever I go, I will post pics ( if I catch ) and ice information.

Thanks again people.

Hi Kim:

It might be a little early because of the slushy areas.

I am a little wary because my uncle sunk his truck in Long Lake at this time of year several years ago.

Take care.

P.S. Bigbore usually sneaks around that area at this time of the year.

You might see him if you travel up there. Guy with the big smile who now likes Rugers.

I go personally to check out the lakes that I want to fish on, rather than depend on someone else's judgement. While safety is everyone's concern, we all have different ideas on what thickness of ice we have OUR PERSONAL level of comfort on, thus the comment. I have been out helping commercial fishermen and did not feel safe on the ice, while at the same time, they were more than comfortable being there. The comment was not intended to be malicious, however, I trust no one to tell me how safe I should be or feel when I am out there!!!

So then let him make the judgement about safety based on others reports instead of comments like that that make people leave AO

Why would you drive 5 hrs to "check out" a lake, when it may not even be fishable???? A heads up is always nice on what one can expect. Posters may save people hrs of driving and a hundred bucks in gas.... Especcially this time of year. Man up. Or don't.

I spend considerble amount of cash on gas checking out the various lakes in the lakeland. My powersaw gets a lot of nasty workouts getting me into these lakes, clearing the trails. I ask no one about the ice conditions, rather, I go check them out myself. Everyone has the same opportunity!!! It is a great feeling to be the first one out on these lakes, and bringing home the first ice catch of the year!!
