Default Looking for a mechanic...

Anyone here a mechanic or know a good mechanic in the Calgary area? Hoping for someone that works out of their own garage.

I'm having some issues with the transmission on my F150. Got nailed by the oil downturn, and just recently got back to work after a long-time off. Can't even consider going to a dealer or a transmission shop right about now. Would greatly appreciate some recommendations of someone that might be able to help me out!

Have you considered looking for a used one and doing it your self ? I've replaced a handful of transmissions. If you have the tools it's usually straight forward. What is it doing exactly ?

Doesn't seem to want to switch into 3rd gear. I've read could be a solenoid issue or actual transmission damage. Hoping for a solenoid. I would tackle it myself but I don't have a garage or even anywhere to park other than street parking so that's kind of out of the picture unfortunately.

Have you check fluid level? I do remember having a car in my teens years that wouldent like to shift into 3rd till it was warmed up. Turns out that I didn't have the right dipstick for that transmission so I was over a liter short.

I, and many of my friends and family, have been going to Les from Alternative Mobile Auto Repair for a number of years with nothing but good things to say. Despite his name, he works from his home garage primarily. 403-273-0088. He's in Erinwoods. Stand up guy, very fair on pricing, and knows his stuff.

Gigantelli auto service on 16th Ave close to edmonton Tr. You won't meet a more honest guy. Tell Joe Dave the tile guy sent you.
I've been dealing with him for over 10 years.

does the truck have the check engine light on, first step, fluid level and condition smell the fluid, if the light is on get it scanned ( you could purchase a cheap scanner from ct but some do not scan the tcm ) hopefully like you say its just a shift solenoid, as this would be your cheapest option. How many km's on truck? if you want pm me, and I will try to point you in the right direction, right now the industry is slow so there will be lots of factory trained techs looking for a side job good luck
