Default Window Shattered?

Wondering if this has ever happened to anyone on here?

Had my Toyota SUV parked out on the acreage for about 5 days, on the 4th day everything looked good. On the 5th day, the driver door window was shattered.

Couldn't have been someone trying to break in because not a single thing was moved, and I had a watch in the cup holder.
Wasn't a rock thrown at it, because there was no rock lol and if they came to pick up the rock they would have took the watch haha.

A friend of mine was saying he's heard it could happen from the Sun directly hitting it and shattering it?

Anyone ever experience something similar to this?

I had a sun roof shatter after sitting all day in the hot sun. I started driving and only got up to about 30km/hr, and it sounded like a gunshot.

Majority of glass pop out or pop in? If it popped out, likely from heat.

My buddy had it happen to his Rav4. The sun heats up the interior and the pressure builds up. That was the first I had heard of it.

Yes, a friend was standing next to his truck window when it shattered.
Rare but I guess it does happen.

I lost a rear window on a Chev 1500 the same way. Someone suggested leaving a window open a tiny bit to avoid a pressure build up. Seems to work.

No lawn mowing but right next to a CN Track, you think the vibrations?
But there was also another 5 cars parked right next too it, and the Train has never caused any issues in the past, but at the same time, this has never happened either.

I guess its a bit more common then I suspected, with the heat and pressure. Thanks for all the responses.

Has the vehicle been in an accident? Was the door damaged?

If the door was slightly warped in an accident and stress was put on the window it may break.

I have a Jeep Cherokee that had been in an accident, I was mowing the lawn and the back window shattered. I think a normal window in a normal door could have taken the hit from a stick and been OK. A stressed one not so much.
