Default No common courtesy!

Currently sitting and attempting to fish on Winagami lake

I am the only one not this 5 mile long lake that is fishing

There is a group of guys with incredibly loud racing quads that feels the overwhelming need to race back and forth right past my tent!!

Only 10 inches of ice. So I am walking and don't have the ability to be as portable as them!! I have seen 6 pike now come close and dart off as soon as one of these respectful individuals comes ripping past my tent.

There is 5 miles of lake to rip around in and they insist on blasting around right by me. Sheesh guys what gives?

Perhaps they just don't know
More likely they just don't care!

I have managed to catch 6 so far but it could be a lot better if they just thought a second about what they are doing!

Some people take pride in being a pos. I feel for ya and I'm sure most people on here have been there at one time or another. Too bad they wouldn't fall through the ice hey??

Some people just don't care or , haven't been taught any better!

I am not a confrontational type of person. But I am sure some others would light these guys up!

Makes a guy pretty cranky though!

They are also there in the summer with their wake board boats. 12 miles of lake to play in and they have to be making waves around your boat while fishing. Kinda drives ya nuts....

How about stepping out of your tent and asking them why?

How about not complaining at all? if you want to call someone about their loud pipes go ahead but really they have every right to be there... as do the wake board boats, as to the sleds, as do the jet skis......

I agree.

Sure they have the right to be there. But they shouldn't be *****holes. Like the OP said, theres LOTS of lake. They can go somewhere else.

One of them travelled past my tent at 45-50 mph at less than 15 paces (I stepped it off)

They were just trying to be superstars and only accomplished making themselves appear as donkeys !

I did step out and throw my arms up at that point but
He was already 80-90 yards away in a cloud of snow by the time I got out of my tent

I am not saying that they have no right to be there!! They have all the same rights as I do !!!!! I never questioned that!
Just use some common sense and a little courtesy when enjoying a multi use place like a 5 mile long lake

They just needed to grow up and think about the situation
That is all!

Not interested in starting a fight on the ice by myself with 3 strangers that MAY be drunk or worse

Not a good survival tactic in my books!!

I generally just try to live and let live, and hope for a little civility!
Doesn't always work though!

Just practice casting a big spoon while out fishing...if they happen to get in the way while your doing so you can test your drag on the reel at the same time...

When they tare past you at those speeds you want to hear a loud pop followed by alot of blue smoke. shut them down for a while.

Maybe drill a couple of holes where they are tearing past you and let the snow freeze up around the hole, kinda like a speed bump. Maybe they will get the hint.

I never understand this attitude. Why is OK to disturb other peoples' activities with yours?

How much less fun will you have if you:
a) keep your quad/sled/jetski/wake boat a few hundred yards away from people who are fishing?
b) don't blast your tunes for everyone on the lake to hear?

Thats when you approach them, and ask them about their racing quad. Model, engine size, and how much you would really like to buy one, be nice and act interested, then at the end of this encounter you hit them with the true meaning behind this exchange that they are douchbags.

FTW

because they are just as much entitled to be there as someone else? I don't even own a quad but c'mon guys.

There is probably a thread on mud and snow forum saying how come fishermen always set up right where the path is, or right next to the packed snow where we like to go fast.

I bet there is a thread on the wakeboard forum that says why do the fisherman always take the calm water in the bays right where we like to wakeboard?

Just because you only like to fish in peace and quiet and on still waters doesn't mean others cant enjoy other activities out there.

DING DING

I am entitled to my entitlements going strong everywhere. Stop what you are doing so I can do what I want to do. I don't like what you do so you shouldn't be able to do it but leave my stuff alone cause it is good and moral and blah blah blah.

had a guy on a piped up mountain sled make several high speed passed within 20 yards of our pop up tent a few years ago...skis 3 feet off the ground kind of passed.

I finally came out of the tent to express my displeasure with him just in time to see the thing come apart and blow the hood off...sled came to screeching halt and rider took the handlebars in the ribs...almost went right over the front.

he walked back to shore to get his quad to come tow the sled in...got stuck 80 yards off shore with the quad....i saw both machines still there a week later

karma is rare...but sweet when you get to witness it in its pure awesomeness.
