Default Official Year End get together: Sunday March 15th Chain Lakes South

Alright folks, here we go. I have clearance to go and if it's nice out she can come too. But it will be me and my buddy for sure.

When: Sunday March 15th

Where: Chain Lake South (South of Longview)

Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (negotiable)

Location: TBA

Personally I like to fish on the point just to the right of the boat launch right out from the day use area and the picnic table. I seem to have really good luck there. But if we wanted to go somewhere else, that's cool too.

Post on here if you can make it. We should be there early, will be driving my red tacoma and will have the ice cube tent setup. Will post a pic when I can.

Everyone welcome, even the northern folk. Hope to see lots of you out. Not the greatest pic of my truck and stuff, but you get the picture.

We'll be there. Either a silver Caravan or a silver 95 Chev 3/4 ton reg cab with huntin stickers on the back window.

Mustang, I like that spot too we always do best there.

We'll be at least 3 of us, maybe more.

BBJ: I'd love to meet you and see if you're the real deal. Everyone welcome! The more the better. It's a stocked rainbow lake that have ones that range from tiny 5"ers up to 16"ers.

I wont a 100 % confirm but I will keep the idea in my head , I will have to see what the schedule is for Sunday as , its usually our family day we spend together , I might be able to skip out on it , just depends on weather . That's a pretty far drive to go for a day of fishing .But definitely Am considering .

Default Alright!

They don't call it Sunday Funday for no reason!!

I will get the chili going this week, it would be a great help to know how much to build. I had an idea today about bowls; A good way to cut down on garbage, and potential fly away trash (those who have been to Chain know how windy it can get) if I did bread bowls! I will head to costco, superstore, and a few bakery's to see if there are any suitable buns that are big enough to accomodate a good sized amount of chili. Just a thought! Thank you to jts1 and Brianscott for offering to help with the feast! I will keep this thread up to date with my findings, and give all as much notice as I can.

I like the idea of a derby, is anyone else game?

I drive a gold Chevy half ton, with a matching color tonneau top. I will have my black and red checkered flannel, over my lucky fishing shirt of course!! I think I will need all the help I can get!

Can't call it a derby or will have to register it or something....but that is a good idea. $5 in a hat and the biggest one takes it before a set time. Nothing real official, more of a for fun thing. There isn't huge one in the lake but there can be decent ones up to 16" and a couple pounds. And maybe something for who can catch the biggest sucker! We always end up catching a couple of those. Except...i can't show anyone what I'm using....the secret will be out!

My friend's dad fishes Chain Lakes every weekend religiously. And every weekend he comes back with a pike and a few whitefish for the smoker. He won't tell me what he uses, but I know he fishes the north end. I've never seen sign of pike in Chain, so I'm pretty convinced he fishes elsewhere and just doesn't want to give out his spot for pike, but there's always a bit of "what if" in the back of my mind...

Yeah, it should be the Chain Lakes in ES1. I'll check my regs later when I get home. It should also be listed under the stocked lake list.

This map should help...It's just one lake but has the name "Lakes"...You can get there by Highway 2 or 22 and Secondary 533 or 527...The south end is where the provincal park is located...
