Default Wab pike pics

Hi, I thought I would post a picture of my personal best pike I caught out of wab. BTW this pike was caught in the bay near the Sundance plant last winter. I used an online pike calculator and estimated it was around 16lbs. I was deadsticking a 2 ounce yellow leadhead and large smelt when my fishing partner saw the back of this large pike down his fishing hole. So, I look down my ice fishing hole which is 3ft away from my partner's fishing to see a huge pike sitting where my lure was! Right away, I set the hook and for about three or more times I would bring the fish to the hole and then the fish would scream line off of my heavy duty ice rod and dart back to the bottom of the lake. I eventually tired the fish out and when I brought the fish onto the ice, I swear my eyes almost fell out of my head!

I have a picture of the beast posted below.

How long was the fish? A fish with that girth probably should be around 36-37 inches to be around the 16 pound mark. I have found that the weight calculators can be as much as 4 pounds different for the same length and girth. Great fish by the way. I found the large pike at Wabamun look very healthy, are well fed, and have an above average girth. Now you just have to catch a 20 pounder, that's what I'm still looking for.

I tried to measure the fish with a small 33'' tape measure, though it was longer than the tape measure!. I'm estimating the fish was around 35'' or 36 inches

BTW hope you catch that 20+lber pike soon burbotman.

It's unbelievable that people still insist on arguing over the estimated weight of fish when their opinion hasn't been asked.... Who cares how much it weighs?
