Default PAL Renewal

I just noticed that my PAL expires in April next year. I have no feel for the renewal process or how long I should expect it will take. Given that the Feds are involved I don't want to leave anything to chance.

Can you folks give me some info on the process and timeframe. I'm assuming I don't have to jump thru that same test again (first, last and only time I've ever handled a handgun).

Thanks in advance for all replies
Zeke

they will mail you a letter or used to last year about 2 months before it expires. You get a new photo, sign the forms etc and mail back in to them and mine took about 4 weeks to come back. Has to be renewed before the expiry date.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about PAL renewals getting screwed up and taking a long time. Try to renew it as soon as possible, because if your PAL expires, you become an instant "criminal."

I start about three months before my PAL expired that way there was lots of time to get things done properly.

You can check on how far along your application is by going to http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca . You can also phone them, you can get the number from their web site.
