Default Crowsnest River

Has anyone fished the crowsnest recently?
... Never been down there at this time of year and was thinking of heading down there for a few days of flyfishing but not sure if its frozen?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The river is open all year between East hillcrest bridge and Lundbreck falls. With the snow and cold temps we have had the fishing pressure this winter has been close to nil. If you are going to fish i would bring snow shoes too.Water is very clear and low. The pictures were taken 40 minutes ago.
1st pic is downstream of east hillcrest bridge.
2nd is water clarity- straight under bridge.
3rd is upstream of bridge. -closed for fishing until june 15.
Wind is currently under 5km. Sunny and should get to 6 C this afternoon.

Thanks for the pics lannie.

I will be out that way with the fly gear early tomorrow morning for the day. Hopefully we can find a stretch of river that we can have to ourselves and find some bows and whites.

You are right dkmountainman, it is also open all year between Hwy 3 and Cowley. It has less ice on the sides of the river down there. Might dump some snow tommorow by the looks of things.
