Want to put in a Garage floor drainage catcher
Has anyone installed a grating to catch the water that drips off your truck in a heated garage, every year the water melts off and runs down to the garage doors. and freezes them down, I cannot put a draiage system in due to city laws. but I can put a grating system . Would like to go down about 6 inches for a length of 18 ft

You're referring to a trench drain, they can be made by sizing metal grates to fit into a formed concrete trench, but these days are more commonly prefabricated such as the one pictured below. Something like that could be installed and not tied in to a sewer, but merely cleaned out with a shop-vac on occasion.

Was told a few years ago ,you can't get a building permit any more to do this in new homes as to much oil goes down them.

This is NOT to be drained away, only as a holding area to be sucked up with shop vac ect..

The photo I merely culled from a Google search, but I would source such items from the plumbing wholesalers that I frequent.

Have you tried those garage mat deals? I think Canadian Tire sells them. They are basically a tarp with a slight lip on them that will hold water. Just a few minutes with a shop vac and they water is gone. I have one, but I never bother to vacuum it out cause I have a sump in my garage.

Looks like Home Depot sells them online.

They are a little spendy, but they might be cheaper than other alternatives.
