Default Cold Bore accuracy??

Hey i just got back from the range and im wondering why my first shot (cold bore) is an inch lower than the rest @ 100 yds i dont think it is my shooting because i can get the next three touching each other ,,, should i be sighting in for my first shot??? This is the third time this has happened since sunday , i also just bought a new leupold canadian which is why i have been sighting in . what do i do?

did you clean the rifle? Clean barrels sometimes require a "fouling" round to settle in. I'm sure others here will have diferent solutions for you.best of luck.

Interesting question. I think I've noticed this as well always chalked it up to rust.

I say sight it in for your first shot then if you miss and your quarry is running away you'll be right on with your follow-up shot at 1" high

You need to find out if it is a cold bore issue,or a clean bore issue. If it only happens after a cleaning, sight the gun in after taking a few fouling shots, then hunt with a fouled barrel. If it is a cold bore issue, even with a fouled bore, sight the gun in for the first shot with a cold barrel.

Good advice
