Question Savage Gear Line Thru Trout

Just wondering if anyone has used these and if so. how are you rigging them up? Curious if using a Fluorocarbon leader would be best for these or just tie the braid right to the hook.

I use fluorocarbon (50lb) and attach it to the top of the lure. Makes it slightly more weedless.

I have one but I've yet to try it. Figured I'd use some 50 pound fluoro.

I picked up a 6" one and I'm looking at an 8" one as well. I think 50 pound fluoro should work well.

This you tube video link may be of some help although it doesn't address the type of line to use.

I use 50 lb fluoro, Vanish leader material. I tie that to a ball bearing swivel.

Apparently using actual leader material is a better choice for durability vs. standard 50 lb line. So I hear....

I think this is going to be the same way I set mine up. Seems to be the most common and effective from what I can find.

I use the seaguar salmon sts leader material. 50 lb test (was the largest wholesale sports had)

Cabelas has the Berkley Vanish Leader Line 50lb for $12.99. Think I will swing by after work and grab some.

Seaguar is probably better, I only use Vanish because it's what was available at the time at Cabela's in CGY. Wholesale is a bit of a drive for me, whereas Cabela's and the Fishing Hole are 10 and 5 minutes respectively.

That said, I've been happy with the Vanish. Bit of a pain to tie like all heavy fluoro, but stands up well to abrasion and the knots seem solid so far.
