Real shame to see, TC. Sorry for your loss in gear and habitat. Terrible how fire takes everything. Hopefully in a few years it should be grown up enough to hold wildlife again.

Default Gort Chip resudents are evacuated

Ft. Chip got the word and are evacuating south by air and boat.
The Ft. McMurray River Rats have a call out to help with extra trailers and storage for those Ft.Chip residents that do not have those facilities in town .
I am not sure how bad the fire is up North but it can't be good

Thumbs up More boots on the ground!

The first group of 215 South African firefighters arrived in Edmonton on June 4, with a second group of 200 scheduled to arrive a week or two later.
Any word on where they were deployed?

I am assuming qualifications firefighters need to have in South Africa. Good on them coming over to help.

Looks like they are members of this group: https://ncc-group.co.za/the-hotshots...-firefighters/

Seeing as how Canada has agreements to share firefighters with six other countries -- the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico and Costa Rica. They likely have some training standards in place.

Had a fire start on the yard today. That was fun with 4-5 different fire departments out to deal with it. Mostly grass and junk that I've been meaning to take away got burned, but it did take part of one shop.

At first glance, where it started is strange. There's no burning on anything I'd consider a potential fire starter source in the area it started at. Caught the fire early, but it was moving pretty fast. But I know whereabouts it started.

Memories appear short here. Same ones that came in 2016?
Hope they brought their fire beaters (brooms)
Sure worked out well last time
Least they can dance

I knew this was coming!

Our retard buffoon from Ottawa and his puppets are now throwing the "Climate Change" angle as a factor with these wildfires. Unbelievable!...

You racist bastard! These guys came here and they are performing highly effective ritual dance to please the Gods of fire asking them not to throw bolts of lightnings at us! This was highly effective in South Africa and elsewhere in Africa. Their dance is a proof of diversity and social justice, showing you -uneducated peons red necks - that their culture going back thousands of years is as effective as your newest waterbombers… I mean- look up, we don’t see blue skies today, the rain clouds are forming already and it’s gonna rain soon!

Edson fire flared up again and town has evacuated again. Fire fighters do not put fires out. Only Heavy/Heavy June rains can stop these massive fires. Showers just slow them for a few days. Water bombers, if we had some could keep fires out of out Alberta towns.

According to the drivers at work it’s raining heavy north of wonowon now, good for the big fire up there.

They evacuated Tumbler Ridge yesterday as well. Looks like the weather is cooling off up there a bit and maybe some rain. I think that they were setting up sprinklers in parts of town.

I am just south of Wonowon now, we got a few drops earlier this morning but nothing now. The smoke has moved in nicely.

Last count only 917 wildfires in Alberta so far this year. Just 478 were human caused. Guys keep pitching those Cigarette Butts out those windows. One fire south Edson only burned area 40 miles wide by 60 miles long so far, another south Slave Lake burned area larger than 50 mile long Slave lake.
