Electric Knife

Has anyone had much to do with electric filleting knives watch a video on doing Northerns boneless and he was using a electric knife is there a good quality one on the market??

I don't know how he could have possibly gotten y bones out with an electric knife!! Filleting is a finess sort of thing, I would like to see someone fillet with one though.

Tried the stren 1 works good even for the y bones. Ybones are easy once you get hang of it.

A good knife is all you need .
Those electric knifes you need to plug in and mess with a cord ,no thanks!If you are in the outdoors you need to pull your truck up to the table so you can plug it in and let every one trip over it.I got one for a gift and returned with out even using it .

It they work slick Especially if you have lots to clean.

Practice son,practice...Butchered many a fish back in the day.I love using a electric knife,but only for fillet's,I still use the regular fillet knife for taking out the ribs and v-cuts.

Just to let you guys know i have had a Rapala Electric Knife for 2 yrs now and i wished i would have had it sooner. It is the old Cord type but i like the feel of it better then the Cordless that my fishing buddy bought.

Once you get the hang of it and know when to just trigger it rather then leaving the Knife running full speed you will be amazed at how good of a job you can do with it. I have used it out at the Coast for our yearly fish trips and all the guys out there were amazed at the speed and ease of processing fish.

All i can say is dont knock it until you have tried it.

Hey Mudder, I am down in the States right now and one of the things I have on my list to buy is an electric filleting knife. I saw a Rapala's today for $39.95. It had the regular cord plug-in, cig lighter end, and alligator clips for a battery connection. How does the price compare to Canada or where ever you got yours. BL

Looking at the exchange rates today that is about $10 CDN less then what they are going for here right now. Looks like the same unit i have and let me tell you once you get onto it you will be glad you bought it.

Yes for $120 you can get the Cordless type here in AB now. I think the last time i looked at the Cord type which i have they are running just under 60 Loonies.

Just to let you know the Blades will also fit into your Kitchen Electric Knife as they are the same on the seat end of the blades. I use the Sharper more aggressive cutting blades from my Rapala Kit in the Kitchen Knife to make Salmon Steaks. Works great as the Kitchen Knife is a much higher speed Knife. Just a lil trick i wanted to share with everyone.

Wonderfull for cutting a nicely done roast,or goose,and duck's,can't beat nicly thin cut meats,seem's to bring out flavor!I have the cord fillet knife,wish it was cordless but once our used to it,you'll never want to be without one again!
