1 ft. I would have to call hmmmm for sure.
2ft of ice with 1 ft of water below. Very easy to do if you start in 10 ft and work your way into shore. What about fishing on tops of submerged islands ? I have caught walleyes in 1-2 foot of water below 3 ft of ice. It is like working the shore at night in the open water, lots of fish push food up into the shallows to get an easy meal.

you drill a hole in a deep spot to get the ice thickness, then use your flasher to shoot through the ice to find bottom. bottom - ice thickness = depth of water

This is what a 15 3/4", 2 1/4 pound (the day after I caught it so probably heavier out of the ice) yellow perch. Biggest one of my life and my goal is to catch a bigger one this season, who knows if it will happen.

Thanks for posting Brandon, maybe one day he will send the BIG fish pics.I can truely understand why he is being so secretive about this honey hole.A 2lb perch is a fish of a life time and he has 3 or more now.

Default shallow water perch

I use to live in Cold lake, and in March we would go to the sand bar and poke holes until we would get about 4-6inch of water. Using UW camera we could see perch swimming with their dorsal fins scraping along under the ice. They could barely fit between the ice and sand. Really cool thing was watching pike trying to come in and grab the perch but they couldn't because they wouldn't fit.

Within a 45 min drive of CL i know of a lake that we would catch perch in the spring, starting at a 1lb all the way up to 2 1/2 lbs all day long. Im sure if i had more time on this lake i would have cought a 3+pounder sooner than later .
Good times I miss that place.

I have tried Cold for perch with zero luck ,the walleye even act weird in there. The attempt at perch was mid summer.
