Default Ghost Res Safe to drive on?.

Inexperienced Ice fisher, I would like to take my 3yr somewhere close.

I have heard that ghost was a sketchy lake to drive on? any truth?
Areas to avoid?

I'm driving a 2500 truck...

I know nothing of Ghost although I believe it's man-made from a dam? You wouldn't catch me on something like that especially with a 3yo. My $.02

Good ice just stay away from the bridge and the dam. Keep in the tracks you will see heading west.

If you do not have 4x4 sometimes getting back up the boat launch can be a bit tricky.

Pessimist guy here...I live in Cochrane and have fished that lake more times than I care to admit. I'd consider myself a pretty experienced guy when it comes to ice fishing, and I've never had a bite on Ghost. If you want your young guy to see some action, I'd suggest you go south to Chain Lake.

My 2 cents.

I live in Cochrane aswell, I've been on ghost about 7 times this year. 5 of which were looking for lakers. With no success, the other 2 outings were for burbot, which we did get one 10" around 9:30pm. It is a hard place to fish, you'd be better off going to chestermere lake.

I have been on ghost with a 1 ton, no problems. But everyone is right, it's a tough lake.
