Choosing The Right Carbon Arrow?
After just about 20 years away from archery, I am thinking about picking up the bow again and getting back into bow hunting. I used to use aluminum arrows and would buy the correct spine or stiffness for my draw length and poundage. I want to shoot carbons and was wondering what to go with. I shoot a bow that is adjustable from 55 to 70 lbs draw weight but I shoot around 65 to 70 pounds. I thought I would see if anyone can recommend a good carbon arrow and how I match the arrow to the bow. I have a 30" draw length. Maybe a recommendation on where to find a decent deal on carbon arrows as well, and the specific brand and type you may recommend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to your local bow shop, not box store and see what they have. There are lots of great arrow brands out there. It sounds like you’d be between a 300 and a 340 spine. I’m 29 1/2” and 64lbs and shoot 340’s.
I use Easton right now, my hunting partner is using VAP’s, we both used to use Carbon Express.

I am currently using the carbon express maxima reds love them sure get stuck in the target so everyone thinks they don't penetrate like smoother arrows do that don't stick in the target, used to shoot gold tips and Easton fmj

Vaps seem very popular, but I still like my FMJ's...good size, good weight and pretty tough. Bonus- they pull easy from targets...99% of your shots will be into a target.

^Yep. My FMJ's are heavy (sound absorption) and slick to pull. Like Jay stated above, I'm lucky if I get the opportunity to release on a live target each year, so all those practice shots need to come out of a target without pulling my shoulder out. I've had a couple of brands of arrows that almost glued themselves into the targets.
Being on the heavier side helps me out if Murphy's law comes into play. Since switching to shooting FMJ's a couple of years ago, I haven't had a shot on an animal that wasn't a pass-through
J.

I'm sticking with my tried and true Gold tip 75/95. I have killed a ton of big game with them and they are always reliable. Even won a few hunter shoot titles with them, so they are capable of being very accurate. I like them and they work great for me.

I've also shot the Gold Tips. The Victory VAPs, specifically the TKO's are a superior arrow.

pink victory VAP served me well for years. I use carbon express now. I bet they are all rolled in the same overseas factories anyway, just branding after that.

Just switched to Victory VAP's and have been thoroughly impressed. The only piece you will need to think about if you make the switch to these is you will need to get a quiver or modify your existing quiver to hold small diameter arrows. Would recommend any day of the week. Good luck!

it really doesn't matter to be honest. I shoot vaps but any big name arrow will do the trick make sure your shooting the right spine and you have a good weight forward.
